A boy, buried to his neck
In the sand by the surf.
His friends laugh,
Pack the sand
Smooth it down
Snap a picture
And await the rising tide.

By the surf implies that the surf did the burying. Perhaps next to would convey the idea more clearly. I admit I wonder why the friends decided to bury him - or why he let them.
I like the idea, though I wonder if it shouldn't be elaborated on a little more. The bareness of this piece makes it seem unfinished.
